- The island

Ireland is the third largest island in Europe, and the twentieth largest island in the whole world!
What comes to many people’s mind, when thinking about Ireland, is Saint Patrick’s day, clover and elves that in a magical way will led you in the direction of the pot of the gold, with the help of the rainbow. Beer is also being associated with Ireland. Did you know that the famous beer Heineken actually is rooted in Ireland?

Since most are aware of the many different kinds of beer Ireland has to offer, Saint Patrick’s day and elves, there are nothing unusual about it, and therefore I won’t write about it. What I’m going to write about is something really unusual, and something way more exciting than elves and magic rainbows. Are you ready? I’m actually getting kind of exited myself! So here it goes: FOOD.
You didn’t see that one coming, eh?
Irish cuisine is a style of cooking rooted in Ireland, and is developed by Irish people. Irish food and the cooking of Ireland include popular dishes, cooking methods and food culture. Examples of Irish cuisine are stew, bacon and cabbage and potato pancake. Oysters first become popular in Ireland, and a lot of oyster festivals are being held around the cost in, where oysters are often served.
So what we call European cooking is actually adapted from the Irish food culture. At least a lot of it is.
The very first fish and ship for instant, was sold in Dublin in the 1880’s.
Bet you didn’t know that!
